About Us

Company Overview

GreenPrint provides best-in-class software solutions to eliminate unnecessary cost and waste associated with enterprise and individual printing activities. Our products have been released to critical acclaim in the Wall Street Journal, by CNN and many other publications, and the company has become the recognized market leader in print management and measurement software.

Our GreenPrint Enterprise product increases business profitability and sustainability by providing employees with an innovative interface that allows them to eliminate pages, images and selected content from print jobs before they are sent to the printer. This simple yet powerful exercise reduces organizational print volume by 17% to 25% and saves an average of $80 to $120 per employee per year, which is validated by GreenPrint’s robust data collection and reporting mechanism.

Founded in 2005, GreenPrint is privately held and headquartered in Portland, Oregon, with an international office located in Bangalore, India.

Management Team

Hayden Hamilton, Founder & CEO

Hayden has always loved entrepreneurialism. He had a gaggle of small businesses growing up – gutter cleaning, a snack shop, web design – and ultimately started a co-op bookstore in college which challenged the campus monopoly and received a tremendously positive response from students. After receiving a Bachelor’s degree from Pitzer College he received two fellowships – one to look at the impact of tourism on the mountainous communities of Asia, and another to do an MBA at Oxford University. Upon completion of his MBA he accepted a job at Ford of Europe where he helped create and lead an innovation department. After two years he decided to leave the corporate life and moved to San Francisco to explore entrepreneurial opportunities of his own. A few months later he launched ProgressiveRx.com to provide a low-cost option for Americans without health insurance, and launched Progressive Health Worldwide (www.phww.org) the following year to provide free TB clinics for kids in India.

GreenPrint was created in 2005 as the result of frustration over a wasted page with just a URL which was printed at the end of a New York Times article. When he couldn’t find any sort of solution available on CNET or through a Google search, he started brainstorming potential solutions with James Kellerman, a friend from the product innovation department at Ford, who is now GreenPrint’s CTO.

James Kellerman, Founder & CTO

James Kellerman studied Applied Physics and Computing and subsequently completed a Masters degree in Automotive Product Engineering before joining Ford of Europe.  His first role was in optimizing electronic engine control systems to reduce emissions and improve fuel economy.   Later he joined the Advanced Product Group, leading the development of advanced technology exhibits to demonstrate the excellence and set a future vision for the organization. This work won many plaudits including a prestigious D&AD award for interactive design and a Design Week nomination.

James and Hayden came together in 2005 to start working on the idea of GreenPrint, and James has since been the driving force within the organization for all technical development.  He is a leader in the field and has been recognized in Computerworld’s 100 Premier IT Leaders of 2010.

Kent Dunn, VP of Sales & Business Development

Kent is an environmental technology entrepreneur who has focused his career on building Green Technology businesses.  Prior to GreenPrint, Kent was a co-Founder of Verdiem Corporation, which launched as an Oregon-based endeavor in late 2001 and has grown to become the market leader in PC power management software and is now a Kleiner Perkins company.  In addition to his role at Verdiem, Kent also managed the 80 PLUS Program from 2005-2006.  In that role, he spearheaded a pioneering market transformation program designed to encourage PC makers to integrate highly efficient power supplies into their PC designs.  Kent’s work with 80 PLUS not only helped motivate PC manufacturers to move to a higher level of product efficiency, but it ultimately served as one of the pillars of the ENERGY STAR 4.0 computer specification.

Prior to joining Verdiem in 2001, Kent spent 11 years in a variety of public and private sector roles in the sustainability business.  In each of those roles, his focus was to foster market acceptance of cutting edge green technologies.  Kent holds a Bachelor's Degree in Natural Resources Development from The Ohio State University. He joined GreenPrint in 2009 and leads all sales and business development efforts for the organization.

Jim Tatham, VP of Technical Services

Jim is a serial entrepreneur, having been on management teams for 4 startup companies to date…

Jim began his startup frenzy after moving to Oregon in 1992 and working for Intel for a couple of years. At Intel, Jim worked in a lead role in their Internet Products Group designing interactive software to showcase Intel architecture. He quickly moved on to a Portland-based startup, PrintBid.com - at which he worked as part of the management team until the company was acquired by ImageX out of Seattle in 2000.

Jim created EZConserve, Inc. in Portland, OR, in 2001, which later became known as Verdiem Corporation when the headquarters moved to Seattle, WA. As founder, President and CEO, he took this startup software company from inception to initial revenues, eventually seeing it become a Kleiner Perkins portfolio company. Jim led the development team for Verdiem, creating the PC energy saving software known as Surveyor. Surveyor is now an industry leader in computer energy management. Amongst his various roles at Verdiem, Jim assumed the role of VP of Services in 2005 to oversee the Sales Engineering team, build out the customer support organization, and coordinate annual audits for all of Verdiem’s customers throughout the United States and Canada.

Most recently, in 2010, Jim joined the executive team at GreenPrint as VP Technical Services. He has 22 years of experience in software development, 14 years as part of software development management teams. He uses his background in engineering and long experience in the creation and support of computer software to help customers achieve the maximum benefits of the GreenPrint product.
